RILI students elects SC officers for SY 2016-2017

RILI Students listened as candidates pitch in their plans and ideas for SY 2016-2017.

Students of Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. elected a new set of officers for the RILI Student Council for SY 2016-2017. The election was held July 13, 2016.

Jomareen Angela Estrada (Grade 10) of the Brains and Skills Party (BSP) was re-elected as president of the Student Council. Other elected officials were from the BSP as well: Mark Herson Vargas (Grade 9) - Vice-president, Ana Karen Manalansan (Grade 7) - Secretary, Nicole Andre Gonzales (Grade 6) - Asst. Secretary, Paul Cedrick Surbano (Grade 9) - Treasurer, and Therice Junel Nogrado (Grade 6) - Asst. Treasurer.

Also members of the Student Council are the class representatives elected by their respective grade levels: Vanessa Oca (Grade 10), Princess Lyn Berara (Grade 9), Rhobie Mae Belmonte (Grade 8), Precious May Orosco (Grade 7), Myrtle Rain Piyaw (Grade 6), Danella Joyce Roque (Grade 5), Samuel Rhoye Gonzales (Grade 4).

With fun games and a party to boot, the officers of the RILI Student Council welcomed new students and transferees to the Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. (RILI) family in an acquaintance program, July 4, at the school covered court.

Students from Grades 4 to 6 enjoyed a morning activity filled games and prizes. Groups from different levels also showcased their talent dancing during intermission numbers.

The second part of the program started at 6:00 PM and was attended by high school students.

Not to be outdone, the high school students also formed groups who also presented special dance numbers during the evening party. In between presentations are special raffle draws.

The event was capped by a dance party which aimed to help break barriers between old and new students.

The morning and evening programs were hosted by SC adviser Mr. Claude Van Barlas and Grade 9 adviser Mr. Bryan Mon Rosa. Some alumni were also present in the event.

SC holds elections, Bambo is new president

The students of Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. elected the officers of the RILI Student Council (SC) for SY 2014-2015, June 23. Jemhyr Bambo from the League of Future Leaders (LFL) party won the presidential race. He won against fellow senior Amie Arcilla from the The Future Leaders Towards Academic Excellence (TFL) party.

Other elected officers are Ma. Salve Timwat, Vice President; Janne Gladys Tiosen, Secretary; Danna Ericka Mapalad, Treasurer; Hannah Joyce Desoloc, Asst. Secretary; Maui Encarnacion, Asst. Treasurer.

Duly elected class presidents (or vice presidents should the president become elected in a higher position) are also ex officio members of the SC as class representatives. They are Therice Junel Nogrado (Grade 4), Lyn Rianne Ignacio (Grade 5), Denise Pandacan (Grade 6), Mark Herson Vargas (Grade 7), Jomareen Estrada (Grade 8), King Rowan De Castro (Grade 9), and Arjay Hagosojos (Year IV).

The officers were proclaimed June 26 during the school's morning activity.

The SC's first activity was an acquaintance party for the high school students held July 4. The induction of officers were also held at the event.

Student Council leads RILI aid for Yolanda survivors

The Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. (RILI) Student Council (SC) initiated a school drive to help victims of super typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan). Officers and class representatives urged their co-students to donate rice, bottled water, canned goods and other food items right after classes resumed on Nov. 11.

Officers then collected the items and packed them. They then coordinated with Philippine Red Cross Laguna Chapter so the goods may be collected and sent to Tacloban.

Super typhoon Yolanda devastated Tacloban, Leyte, and nearby provinces in the Visayas and southern Luzon on Nov. 8. It is said to be the deadliest typhoon to hit Philippines killing at least 5,924. United Nations officials report 11 million have been affected and many are left homeless.

Due to the strength of the typhoon, classes in all levels in Laguna were suspended on Nov. 8 following a directive from the provincial government.

Bethany Praise Ortiz of Year IV-Ruby was elected president of RILI Student Council (Pila, Laguna) for SY 2013-2014 during its 2nd elections, June 24.

With 34 votes, Ortiz who a member of the Campus Leading Association Party (CLAP) won the presidency over Isabel Silva of the Dedicated, Responsible and Enthusiastic Party (DREP) and Kate Aprilyn Surbano of the RILI Intelligent Party (RIP).

Prior to the elections, a campaign rally was set on June 20 so the candidates were able to state their plans for this school year and convince their fellow classmates. Parties were also given two days to campaign in the classrooms.

Class representatives are the elected presidents of each class. In case the president ran and won a higher position, the vice president will automatically be the class representative.

Dressed up in their improvised but colorful versions of costumes from other countries, students of Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. (RILI) in Pila, Laguna celebrated the United Nations (UN) Day, Oct. 24.

Organized by the RILI Student Council (Pila, Laguna), each grade level participated in the event by providing interesting information about the country they chose. Some students also presented dances and other performances native to that country.

The UN Day celebration was hosted by student council representatives Frecanzie Nogrado (Year III) and Shane Corales (Year II).

SC honors teachers on Teachers' Day

The Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. Student Council (RILI SC) organized a short Teachers' Day program to honor their classroom advisers and subject teachers, Oct. 8. Students from all levels gathered at the covered court for their program which was hosted by RILI SC president Kenneth Cyrus Celso and Mark Donel de Patiño.

Advisers and subject teachers were given gifts and tokens by their students. Some also presented special song and dance numbers dedicated to their teachers.

The short program was followed by a short snack for the teachers sponsored by the students of RILI.

The Teachers' Day celebration in RILI is in connection to the celebration of World Teachers' Day which was created by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). It is held worldwide every Oct. 5. This year, RILI celebrated it on Oct. 8 to give way to the educational tour held on Oct. 5.

To promote camaraderie among secondary students of Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. (RILI), the RILI Student Council (SC) organized and hosted an acquaintance party, July 20.

Games and presentations were featured in the party. Some of the teachers also participated in the activity. SC president Kenneth Cyrus Celso and Year IV class president James Christian Espayos were the party's m.c.

The party is one of the activities proposed by Celso. The SC, headed by their president, planned and prepared for the event. They scheduled the event right after the monthly tests. The Student Council Advisory Committee (SCAC) thinks it was an appropriate time to hold the party for the students to have a break from the exams.

The newly elected officers of the Student Council (SC) and Bahaghari Cultural Dance Group (BCDG) were proclaimed, July 2, during the school flag ceremony program. This was done following the SC and BCDG elections held June 29 and 30, respectively.

This is the first elections held for the newly formed SC. BDCG was formed last school year but has only elected officers this year.

Students of Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. (RILI) voted for Student Council (SC) officials, June 29. All 66 secondary students and elementary students from Grades 4-6 participated in the elections.

Celso won the presidential seat with a total of 43 votes. Nido and Payag were elected Vice President and Treasurer, respectively. Arcilla and Dasmariñas both received 22 votes while Villanueva received 20 votes. This prompted the Student Council Advisory Committee (SCAC) to cast their votes to break the tie between Arcilla and Dasmariñas. The SCAC voted unanimously in favor of Arcilla.

While the elections were being held, candidates were confined in a holding room. The members of the Board of Election Tellers, headed by chairperson Isabel Silva (Year III), verified the identities of the voters before they were allowed to go in the precinct. After all votes have been cast, the Board of Canvassers, headed by chairperson Bethany Praise Ortiz (Year III), counted and tallied the votes.

The proclamation of elected officers will be held on July 2 after the flag ceremony.

SCAC approves SC consti, to hold poll soon

The Student Council Advisory Committee (SCAC) met on June 7 to approve the constitution and by-laws that will govern Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. Student Council (Pila, Laguna) or RILI Student Council.

The SCAC, composed of Grade 6 adviser Mrs. Jeroline Ocampo, Year IV adviser Mr. Ronaldo Morales, and school principal Mr. Daniel Ezra Añoso, scrutinized the details of the constitution and by-laws and planned for the formation of this school year's Commission on Elections (COMELEC) where the SCAC will also be part of.

According to the SCAC, elementary students from Grade 4 to Grade 6 and all secondary students will vote for this school year's President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Class presidents, on the other hand, will automatically be part of the Student Council as Class Representatives.

The Student Council elections will take place on June 29. Elected officials will be proclaimed on July 2.
