Black Dragonflies win PESAAP sipa, badminton golds

Athletes from the elementary department of Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. (RILI) bagged the gold in sipa and girls' badminton, Aug. 28-29, during the Private Elementary Schools Athletic Association of Pila (PESAAP) athletic meet.

The Black Fighting Dragonflies, RILI's sports team, outkicked the White Sheep of Colegio Monterei de Pila (CMP) in two sets with a score of 15-12, 15-12 to win the championship in sipa (sepak takraw). Comprising RILI's team are Michael Dinoy, Jeuel Gonzales, Kervin Balatibat, and Laurence Arbasto.

RILI's dragonflies again battled with CMP's sheep in girls' badminton championships. In Singles B division, dragonfly Clarissa Anne Pandacan defeated CMP to grab the gold. In Singles A division, CMP defeated RILI's Careyn Lyn Abogado which put her in 2nd spot. The dragonflies also grabbed silver in girls' badminton doubles. Hannah Pauline Abela and Amanda Silva were on their way to winning gold before they lost to CMP in the finals.

The dragonflies also bagged a couple of bronzes in the track and field events. Abogado finished 3rd in the 50-m. dash while Pandacan also finished 3rd in the 100-m. dash. Beverly Gonzales and Maui Encarnacion also participated in the girls' track and field events but did not finish in the top 3. In the boys' running events, RILI was represented by Aldrin Rosales, Balatibat, Batocabe, and Dinoy.

The fighting dragonflies also competed in other events in the PESAAP meet. Dragonfy volleybelles suffered a first round defeat against Liceo de Pila. Comprising RILI's team are Princess Berara, Jem Labong, Lyn Rianne Ignacio, Sapphire Bondad, Michelle Catandihan, Janella Mariz Castillo, Nicole Dapol, Hannah Desoloc, Gonzales.

In chess players RILI was represented by Rosales and Jacob Nathanielz Payag.

There was also a contest for the muses and escorts of each participating school. Andrei Jeuel Gonzales and Lyn Rianne Ignacio were RILI's contestants for Mr. & Ms. PESAAP.

RILI will represent the private schools cluster in sipa and girls' badminton singles in the upcoming District Meet on Oct. 2-3.

Dragonflies grab 3rd place overall in PESAAP Meet

The Black Fighting Dragonflies of Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. (RILI) landed in the 3rd spot after the points have been tallied in the Private Elementary Schools Athletic Association of Pila (PESAAP) Meet hosted this year by San Antonio de Padua College Foundation of Pila, Laguna, Inc. (SAPC), Sept. 6-7.

In track and field, Marcus Adrian Balinas (Grade 6) burned the track to place 1st in the boys' 100-m. dash. John Ver Viñalon (Grade 5) landed in the 2nd spot in the 400-m. run. Balinas and Viñalon were joined by Jose Enrique Cadiz III (Grade 6) and Rency Estole (Grade 5) in taking the 2nd spot in the boys' 4x100-m. relay. RILI's girl runners also proved to be fast as Clarissa Anne Pandacan (Grade 5) placed 2nd in the girls' 100-m. dash.

In badminton, the Dragonflies reached the finals of the girls' doubles and the boys' singles matches to joust rackets with Colegio Monterei de Pila (CMP). RILI's Khrys Kyle Pagag (Grade 5) lost in the finals and landed in the 2nd place in the boy's singles. Karrell Anne Laluz (Grade 6) and Gilliane Alysse Ruanes (Grade 6) shared the same fate and placed 2nd in the girls' doubles. Amanda Silva (Grade 5) and Balinas both placed 3rd in the girls' singles and boys' singles, respectively.

Dragonfly think tanks Rovie Mae Dasmariñas (Grade 6) and Ron Wesley Gonzales (Grade 4) placed 2nd in the girls division and 3rd in the boys division of the chess competition, respectively.

RILI's boy netters ranked 3rd after their single elimination matches against other teams. Members of the boys' volleyball team are Payag, Balinas, Estole, Viñalon, Gonzales, Kristian Cedrick Surbano (Grade 6), Kurt I.C. Bandong (Grade 4), Tristan Jemb Nolasco (Grade 6), Mark Laurence Arbasto (Grade 4), and Mclien Bondad (Grade 5).

Payag also participated in the Mr. PESAAP 2012 competition and was crowned 2nd runner up.

Balinas will be representing the PESAAP cluster in the boys' 100-m. dash at the District Meet. Payag was chosen to be part of PESAAP's boys' volleyball team.

CMP White Sheep ranked 1st in the overall tally followed by South Greenville School (SGS) Spartans in 2nd place. Liceo de Pila (LDP) Blue Eagle [sic] was tied with RILI Black Fighting Dragonflies in 3rd place.

Other teams which participated are St. Therese of the Child Jesus Academy of Pila, Laguna (STCJA) Theresian Red Dragons, SAPC Yellow Cub Raiders, Missionary Oratorians of Jesus School (MOJ) Red Chameleon [sic], and Integrated Christian School of Pila, Inc. (ICSPI) Christian Orange Lion [sic].

RILI Hosts PESAAP 2010

Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. (RILI) hosted this year's Private Elementary Schools Athletic Association of Pila (PESAAP) Cluster Meet. The kickoff ceremony was held August 24 at the RILI covered court.

The ceremony started with a parade that commenced from the town plaza. Athletes from the participating schools carried their school emblems as they marched through the town headed by the Collegio Monterei de Pila (CMP) Drum and Lyre Corps. Leading each school is their muse and escort.

At the RILI covered court, the program started with a doxology from selected RILI students followed by the national anthem. The school principal Mr. Daniel Añoso gave the opening remarks and Mr. Edgardo Ramos, the municipal mayor, gave the keynote speech.

Spectators were entertained by special numbers from selected RILI students. There was even a surprise number from the RILI faculty.

Athletes and officials then recited the pledge which was immediately followed by the official opening of the games by the school administrator Mrs. Miriam Añoso.

Seven schools participated in this year's PESAAP Cluster Meet--Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc.; San Antonio de Padua College; South Greenville School; Integrated Christian School of Pila, Inc.; St. Therese of the Child Jesus Academy; Liceo de Pila; and Colegio Monterei de Pila.

The winners of the events will be representing the PESAAP Cluster in the coming District Meet on Sept. 18 and 25.
