Students vote for SC officials

Students of Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. (RILI) voted for Student Council (SC) officials, June 29. All 66 secondary students and elementary students from Grades 4-6 participated in the elections.

Three parties participated in this year's SC elections:

Reliable Responsible RILIans (RRR)
President: Kenneth Cyrus Celso (Year IV)
Vice President: Louise Anne Nido (Year III)
Secretary: Hannah Luli Villanueva (Grade 7)
Treasurer: Jacob Nathanielz Payag (Grade 5)

RILI Officers for Creative Knowledge (ROCK)
President: Ronnel Fajardo (Year IV)
Vice President: Kate Aprilyn Surbano (Year III)
Secretary: Rovie Mae Dasmariñas (Grade 6)
Treasurer: Marcus Adrian Balinas (Grade 6)

Ultimate RILIan Leaders (URL)
President: James Christian Espayos (Year IV)
Vice President: Frecanzie Nogrado (Year III)
Secretary: Amie Arcilla (Year II)
Treasurer: Karell Anne Laluz (Grade 6)

Celso won the presidential seat with a total of 43 votes. Nido and Payag were elected Vice President and Treasurer, respectively. Arcilla and Dasmariñas both received 22 votes while Villanueva received 20 votes. This prompted the Student Council Advisory Committee (SCAC) to cast their votes to break the tie between Arcilla and Dasmariñas. The SCAC voted unanimously in favor of Arcilla.

While the elections were being held, candidates were confined in a holding room. The members of the Board of Election Tellers, headed by chairperson Isabel Silva (Year III), verified the identities of the voters before they were allowed to go in the precinct. After all votes have been cast, the Board of Canvassers, headed by chairperson Bethany Praise Ortiz (Year III), counted and tallied the votes.

The proclamation of elected officers will be held on July 2 after the flag ceremony.
