Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. (RILI) joined a local tourism seminar, Oct. 3-4, at Ken-Yo Garden Resort, Pila, Laguna. The seminar aims to boost Pila's development through historical, cultural, and ecology tourism. RILI was represented by Grade 7 and Bahaghari Cultural Dance Group (BCDG) adviser Ms. Perla Drilon.
Speakers discussed the thrusts of tourism industry in the CALABARZON region and the ways Pila can help achieve the objectives. They also tackled why Pila, being a historical site, is a unique attraction in the region. Business opportunities related to tourism were also discussed in the seminar.
Speakers of the seminar-workshop are Dr. Virginia Cardenas, professor at the Institute of Governance and Rural Development (IGRD) of University of the Philippines Los BaƱos (UPLB); Marites Castro, Chief Tourism Operations Officer of the Department of Tourism (DOT)-Southern Tagalog Region; Corazon Relova, president of the Pila Historical Society Foundation, Inc.; historian Jaime Tiongson; Nilo Agustin, consultant for Tourism Special Projects; Bien Claravall, senior lecturer at the Asian Institute of Tourism of the University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD); Angelita Fucanan, curator at the National Museum; Martin Valera, regional director of DOT-Region I; and Dr. John Perez, professor at IGRD of UPLB.
RILI and Pila Central Elementary School are the only representatives from the education sector. RILI aims to aid the national and local government's efforts in promoting Filipino culture through its official cultural dance group BCDG.
