Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. (RILI) dominated the district level of the Science Congress 2012 for private schools held Sept. 3 at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Academy of Pila, Laguna, Inc. (STCJA). RILI emerged as the champion in four out of the five categories where the school participated. RILI participated in the Science Quiz Bee and in the Sci-art contest.
In the Grade 6 level of the quiz bee, RILI student Marcus Adrian Balinas grabbed the top spot with 26 points followed by the representatives from South Greenville School (SGS) and STCJA who earned 25 and 11 points, respectively. Grade 5 RILI student Jacob Nathanielz Payag also landed in the 1st place by earning 29 points. SGS landed in the 2nd place and STCJA in the 3rd by earning 22 and 5 points, respectively. Ron Wesley Gonzales, RILI's Grade 4 representative, landed in the third spot, while STCJA and SGS landed in the 1st and 2nd place, respectively.
RILI also won in the Grade 5 and Grade 6 categories of the Sci-Art competition. Hannah Pauline Abela (Grade 5) and Karell Anne Laluz (Grade 6) both won 1st place in their respective categories. The two representatives from STCJA grabbed the 2nd place.
Champions of each category will represent Pila district in the division level of the Science Congress on Sept. 12-13.
RILI's representatives were coached by elementary science teacher and Grade 6 adviser Mrs. Jeroline Ocampo. Year I adviser Ms. Perla Drilon acted as one of the scorers for the quiz bee.
San Antonio de Padua College (SAPC) and Integrated Christian School of Pila, Inc. (ICSPI) attended the Science Congress orientation but reportedly backed out of the competition.
