RILI teachers attend BSP training

Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. (RILI) teachers Mr. Ronaldo Morales and Ms. Li Anne Agurin, attended the Basic Training Course for Unit Leaders (BTC) of boy scouts, Aug. 17-19, at Crisanto Guysayko Memorial Elementary School, Nagcarlan, Laguna.

The training was composed of two parts--for boy and senior scout unit leaders and for kab and kid scout unit leaders. Mr. Morales attended the training for boy and senior scouts while Ms. Agurin attended the training for kab and kid scouts.

Participants were taught the basic skills such as reading a compass, knot-tying, and basic survival skills. These skills will be part of the lessons they will give the scouts that they handle. During one of the activities, Mr. Morales' group won the flag-making contest where each group was asked to create their patrol flag.

For SY 2012-2013, Mr. Morales is the school's Year IV adviser, a member of the Student Council Advisory Committee, and the Young Newtons Club's co-adviser while Ms. Agurin is the school's Nursery teacher.

RILI forms new math-sci club, elects new officers

Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. (RILI) is revitalizing its math and science clubs by forming a new math and science club. The new club, named Young Newtons Club (YNC), is composed of math and science enthusiasts from Grade 4-6, Grade 7, and Year II-IV.

YNC elected its officers Aug. 16. Ronnel Fajardo from Year IV was elected president. Other officers are Jacob Nathanielz Payag from Grade 5, vice president; Shane Corales from Year II, secretary; and Vanessa Oca from Grade 6, treasurer.

The club aims to promote excellence in science and mathematics among the students of (RILI) by coming up with various activities that will help raise students' curiosity and awareness of these subjects.

One of the club's first activities include joining the coming Philippine Society of Youth Science Clubs' (PSYSC) summit to be held Sept. 8-9.

RILI attends RC training

High school students of Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. (RILI) attended the10th Centralized Leadership Development Program held Aug. 18-20 at Masapang National High School, Victoria, Laguna.

The event is sponsored by the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) Laguna Chapter. Participants attended lectures and various team-building exercises, that enhanced their leadership skills and developed camaraderie among students from different schools. PNRC Laguna Chapter said that these activities will encourage members of the Red Cross Youth be more involved in humanitarian activities.

Day 1 of the program was spent on preparing the camp sites. The opening program was also held on this day. Lectures and other activities were held on Day 2. An acquaintance party was also held at the end of Day 2. Certificates were awarded on the last day of the program.

This was the first time that RILI participated in a training sponsored by PNRC.

RILI kicks off Buwan ng Wika celebration

Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. (RILI) started the month-long celebration of Buwan ng Wika, Aug. 6, with the unveiling of an exhibit dedicated to our national language, Filipino. Before the exhibit was unveiled a short program was held and an audio-visual presentation about how Filipino came to be our national language was played.

A poster-making contest and an essay-writing contest commenced after the unveiling. The contest was participated by elementary and secondary students. Winners of the contests will be announced during the culminating activity on Aug. 31.

The Buwan ng Wika exhibit is a project of the elementary and secondary students in cooperation with the RILI Student Council.
