RILI Grabs 2nd Place in Division Math Quiz

Ron Wesley Gonzales (Grade II) won second place in the division level of Mathrathon, a mathematics quiz contest. Gonzales, who was the champion in the district level of the contest represented Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. (RILI) and competed against eight other schools in the division level. The contest was held Sept. 22 at Unson Elementary School in Pagsanjan, Laguna.

RILI also competed in the other grade level categories of the Mathrathon in the district level, held Sept. 20 at Pila Central School: Francis Dominic Puna (Grade I, 2nd place), John Fhrix Zyrene Cura (Grade III, 2nd place), Jeshermaine Castillo (Grade IV, 3rd place), Gio Manuel Castañeda (Grade V, 3rd place), and Ken Lloyd Aquino (Grade VI, 3rd place).

RILI also participated in the district level of the Math Quiz Bee held the same date and venue as the Mathrathon: Samuel Agudo (Grade I, 3rd place), Lei Julianna Matienzo (Grade 2, 2nd place), Davidsson Lucero (Grade 3, 2nd place), Guila Mae Castañeda (Grade IV), Ronne Rae Mayuga (Grade V), and Patrick Neil Pajam (Grade VI).

The Mathrathon and the Math Quiz Bee are parts of the Math Quest, a mathematics quiz contest for elementary students organized by the Department of Education.

RILI wins awards in HEKASI quiz


Jemuela May Castillo (VI-Red) placed 3rd in the division level of the HEKASI Quiz Bee, Sept. 23 at Luisiana Central Elementary School. Castillo competed with 25 other schools in Laguna in the individual category of the quiz bee. She represented the district of Pila having won the district level of the quiz held Sept. 15 at Pila Central school.

RILI also bested other schools in the group category of the competition in the district level:

Grade I-Green, 2nd place
Francis Dominic Puna, Elisha Therese Dimaandal, and Samuel Agudo

Grade II-Violet, 2nd place
Ron Wesley Gonzales, John Patrick Dacir, and Lei Julianna Matienzo

Grade III-Orange, 3rd place
Davidsson Lucero, Hannah Pauline Abela, and Alecssandra Rowie Aranas

Grade IV-Brown
Marcus Adrian Balinas, Rovie May Dasmariñas, and Jeshermaine Castillo

Grade V-Gray, 3rd place
Gio Manuel Castañeda, Andrea Nicole Gonzales, and Irah Michelle Guevarra

Grade VI-Red, 2nd place
Maria Amor Cielo Tolentino, Patrick Neil Pajam, and Ken Lloyd Aquino

The participants will be given recognition during the flag ceremony on Monday, Sept. 27.

RILI places 7th in PopEd quiz

Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. (RILI) placed 7th in the clustered district level of the Population Education (PopEd) Quiz held September 16 at Los Baños National High School (LBNHS).

Liezel Oquendo from IV-Ruby represented RILI and competed against 22 other schools from the clustered districts of Alaminos, Bay, Calauan, Pila, Los Baños, and Victoria. Among the participating schools from Pila, Oquendo ranked third, bested only by Don Manuel Rivera Memorial National High School (rank 1) and Linga National High School (rank 2).

Overall, the host school LBNHS grabbed the championship. LBNHS will advance to compete in the division level of the competition.

RILI Hosts PESAAP 2010

Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. (RILI) hosted this year's Private Elementary Schools Athletic Association of Pila (PESAAP) Cluster Meet. The kickoff ceremony was held August 24 at the RILI covered court.

The ceremony started with a parade that commenced from the town plaza. Athletes from the participating schools carried their school emblems as they marched through the town headed by the Collegio Monterei de Pila (CMP) Drum and Lyre Corps. Leading each school is their muse and escort.

At the RILI covered court, the program started with a doxology from selected RILI students followed by the national anthem. The school principal Mr. Daniel Añoso gave the opening remarks and Mr. Edgardo Ramos, the municipal mayor, gave the keynote speech.

Spectators were entertained by special numbers from selected RILI students. There was even a surprise number from the RILI faculty.

Athletes and officials then recited the pledge which was immediately followed by the official opening of the games by the school administrator Mrs. Miriam Añoso.

Seven schools participated in this year's PESAAP Cluster Meet--Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc.; San Antonio de Padua College; South Greenville School; Integrated Christian School of Pila, Inc.; St. Therese of the Child Jesus Academy; Liceo de Pila; and Colegio Monterei de Pila.

The winners of the events will be representing the PESAAP Cluster in the coming District Meet on Sept. 18 and 25.
