BCDG lands 2nd in 2017 Laguna Musikahan

Isa! Dalawa! Tatlo! Sampu! Bahaghari Cultural Dance Group members count off at the beginning of their 2nd place performance of the Maglalatik at the 2017 Laguna Musikahan, Dec. 15, 2017 at Sta. Cruz, Laguna. 

The Bahaghari Cultural Dance Group (BCDG) took 2nd place at the Laguna Musikahan held December 15, 2017 at Sta. Cruz, Laguna. The group represented Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. and the district of Pila in the annual contest in the Elementary Boys Folk Dance category. They competed against 11 other teams.

The team consisted of Miel Amber Ventura (Grade 6), Kriz Emmanuel Opinion (Grade 5), Carl James Intia (Grade 5), Sammuel Rhoye Gonzales (Grade 5), Miguel Brandon Manalili (Grade 5), and Brian Francisco Daguinsin (Grade 4).

Host school Sta. Cruz Central Elementary School took the top spot while Pacita Complex Elementary School settled for third.

Contestants for the said category performed the Maglalatik, a dance depicting the Christians and the Moros fighting over the prized latik.

BCDG competed fresh off their recent double podium finish at the Laguna Folk Dance Competition just two weeks before the Laguna Musikahan.

Bahaghari takes silver, bronze at Laguna folk dance contest

Bahaghari Cultural Dance Group members receive their 2nd Place and 3rd Place trophies at the 2nd Laguna Folk Dance Competition. The Bahaghari Cultural Dance Group (BCDG) of Rainbow Institute of Learning, Inc. took home a double podium finish in their debut appearance at the 2nd Laguna Folk Dance Competition, Nov. 28, 2017, at the Laguna Sports Complex in Sta. Cruz, Laguna. BCDG landed in 2nd place in the Junior and Senior High Category and 3rd place in the Elementary Category of the competition.

The junior and senior high school team competed against 11 other teams from different schools in Laguna. Participants in this category chose between Polkabal and Jotabal. BCDG performed the Polkabal as their contest piece which landed them in 2nd place and the best among the teams who performed Polkabal.

The elementary team also competed against 11 other teams. In this category, teams chose between Tinolabong and Subli. BCDG performed Tinolabong which earned them their 3rd place finish. They were also the highest ranking team among those who performed Tinolabong.

The junior and senior high school team members are BCDG president Janne Gladys Tiosen (Grade 11), Mark Henson Vargas (Grade 11), Danna Erika Mapalad (Grade 11), King Rowan de Castro (Grade 11), Mark Herson Vargas (Grade 10), Careyn Lhyne Abogado (Grade 10), Aldrin Rosales (Grade 8), and Therice Junel Nogrado (Grade 7).

The elementary team members are Danella Joyce Roque (Grade 6), Kyle Danielle Lozande (Grade 6), Miel Amber Ventura (Grade 6), Sammuel Rhoye Gonzales (Grade 5), Kriz Emmanuel Opinion (Grade 5), Dhoreen Lhyne Abogado (Grade 5), Carl James Intia (Grade 5), and Hannah Chazey Pilongo (Grade 4).

San Antonio de Padua College Foundation of Pila, Laguna, Inc. took 1st place while STI College of Sta. Cruz, Laguna was in 3rd place in the junior and senior high school category.

In the elementary category, Sta. Cruz Central Elementary School bagged the 1st prize while Pila Central Elementary School landed in 2nd place.

The competition also featured an open category which was participated by three performing groups: Sining Kalinangan Dance Troupe (1st place), Liksilaw Dance Troupe (2nd place), and PUP Siglaw (3rd place).
